What is a .dgn file?

DGN is the format used for CAD files from Bentley Systems, MicroStation and Interactive Graphics Design System. The .dgn format is used in construction projects, mainly for bridges, highways, and shipbuilding.

A .dgn file is a CAD file in the V8 DGN format.
It is a 2D or 3D drawing and can be opened directly in Autodesk AutoCAD.

The Vcad template for .dgn files contains a page summarising the extracted data and a number of other pages with colour themes, data and a tree representation.
