What is a .IWM file?
IWM is the format used for files from Infraworks. Infraworks is Autodesk’s BIM software for preliminary design of infrastructure in the spatial and landscape context.
Models, visually realistic and complete in every detail, are built using available GIS data: terrain models, orthophotos, survey data, environmental and man-made data.
The software allows you to model and understand projects in context. It can be used to aggregate large amounts of data to generate highly detailed contextual models, visualize conceptual design options for roads, railways, bridges and water networks, analyze traffic flow at intersections and perform visual radius studies to visualize impacts.
Handling of IWM files is managed only in Vcad for Autodesk Construction Cloud.
When you publish the InfraWorks model to ACC or BIM360, the real model data is stored in the InfraWorks Model Storage Service (IWMS); that’s why the IWM file is not referring directly to the ACC or BIM360 account.
